Scott Miller of CBS sports is reporting that the Blue Jays are among five teams “in the mix” for the services of free agent outfielder Carlos Beltran.
Beltran prefers the outfield but is open to being a part-time DH, a role he’d presumably take on in Toronto.
With right and center field filled with Bautista and Rasmus respectively, Beltran’s only fit besides DH would be left field, a position he’s played very little his entire career.
The Jays have been aggressive on Beltran all winter, even during all of the Yu Darvish hoopla. Beltran reportedly hopes to make a decision by Christmas.
