Echoes From 527: Exit Sandman

rivv

On Thursday, Mariano Rivera will make the trek out to SkyDome’s Right Field bullpen for the last time during his Hall of Fame worthy career as the Blue Jays square off vs the Yankees in the season finale between the two clubs.

After Rivera announced that 2013 would be his final year in the Show, Baseball fans across North America lined up to get a glimpse of the Yankees stopper as he says his farewell to the mound following what has been one of the most dominant MLB careers of all time.

As we bear witness to the Sandman’s swan song  vs the Blue Jays, we can reflect on Major League Baseball’s all time Saves leader’s work vs our club.

Below is a list of some key numbers put forth by Rivera as he faced the Blue Jays over the past 19 seasons.  Along with the total numbers, you can also find the dates and or players involved for both the first and last time Rivera accomplished the following feats vs Toronto.

Mo will leave a wake of dominance (and broken bats) behind as he moves forward on his march to Cooperstown following Thursday’s game in Toronto.

As has been the case in all of his final stops in each MLB city, “Super Mariano” will be honored by the Blue Jays in a pregame ceremony prior to Thursday’s regularly scheduled 7:07 first pitch.

The Blue Jays fan in me could settle for the fact that he has probably pitched his final game vs Torotno although the Baseball fan in me hopes he hasn’t.

Will the Sandman make that 95 appearance vs the Blue Jays on Thursday night? Come out to the ballpark and find out…
