Another new face gets the nod this week!
This weeks Blue Jay of the Week is…. Adeiny Hechavarria! (SS-3)

I’m sold. This Adeiny kid… he can play.
Only problem is, where does John Farrell put him? With Brett Lawrie making his return to the lineup at Fenway Park, Hechavarria is being bumped out of the 3rd base position. Nothing wrong with that because it’s the way it should be so lets shift our focus to the middle of the infield.
There has been talk all year that Yunel Escobar and Kelly Johnson need to go, either now or when the season concludes. For the past several months I’ve been of the mindset that KJ needs to hit the road and Escobar needs to quietly slide across the diamond to fill the void at second base. This would open up the chance for Hech to play his natural position.
Over the past week I’ve been changing my tune and I would love to see Hechavarria become the everyday second baseman for the Blue Jays. Escobar is solid defensively, his contract is very favourable to the ball club and he is bound to have a better season at the plate in 2013.
Hech clearly has the tools to play shortstop so a move to the right side of the infield should be a seamless transition with the aid of Winter Ball and a full Spring Training. Let him continue to develop his skills at the big league level and when Yunel’s contract is up or his moping around has become too much to handle the team can move Adeiny back to his natural position.
Either way I can see Adeiny Hechavarria being the Blue Jay of the Week many more times for years to come. Someone get me John Farrell’s number, we need to talk.
