Jays close to deal with Darren Oliver

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Blue Jays are close to a deal with free agent veteran reliever Darren Oliver.

The 41-year-old lefty was lights out for the Texas Rangers the past two seasons, posting a 2.29 ERA in 2011.

Oliver’s veteran presence would make an excellent addition to a Blue Jays bullpen that was shaky at best in 2011.
